Dr. Martin Luther King was an American pastor, activist, and prominent leader of the African-American civil rights struggle. His efforts led to progress in civil rights in America; That is why he is also seen today as a symbol of human rights. Two churches have also recognized him as a saint. He was born in 1929 in Atlanta, USA. Dr. King led a successful nonviolent movement in the United States against discrimination against the Negro community. The year 1955 was the turning point of his life. In the same year, he married Coretta and was invited to preach at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, in the southern US state of Alabama. In the same year, he was arrested by a woman, Mrs. Rose Parks, against the black-and-white distinction in Montgomery’s public buses. After this, Dr. King started the famous bus movement.
