Carl Gustav Jung ( 26 July 1875 – 6 June 1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology. His work has been influential not only in psychiatry but also in anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy and religious studies. He came to the attention of the Viennese founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, as a notable research scientist on the grounds of the famous Burgollzli Hospital under Eugene Bleuler. The two men conducted a long correspondence and collaborated on an early joint vision of human psychology. Jung was an artist, craftsman and producer as well as a prolific writer. Many of his works were not published until after his death and some are still awaiting publication.
